Amazon Fire TV blazes on with content selection

Attempting to show that the orange is not the only fruit, nor the new black as on other services, Amazon has embarked on a major online video push.

The online video service has revealed that it has added to its bouquet more than a thousand 1,000 channels, apps, and games added since September 2015, including, in the last week, channels such as NBC, NBC Sports, Watch HGTV, Watch Food Network, Watch Travel Channel and Fox Now.

More importantly as it approaches the key Christmas selling period, the online sales giant added that its Amazon Fire TV devices now have over 4,000 channels, apps, and games. This Amazon says is the largest selection of any streaming media player.

“The NBC and NBC Sports Live Extra apps offer audiences some of the best shows and live sports and we’re happy to make them available to customers of Amazon Fire TV devices,” said Alison Moore, GM and EVP, TV Everywhere, NBCUniversal, commenting on the deal. “This relationship with Amazon will further drive fan engagement with NBC and NBCSN’s deep line-up of premier programming.”
