ABC nets another Oz Asian Cup success

Mile Jedinak and his fellow Socceroos were not the only happy Australians at the end of the AFC Asian Cup, state broadcaster ABC netted huge audiences for the tournament.
adisn CupThe ABC's Cup Final coverage reached 5.3 million Australians and had an average audience of 1.8 million (metro and regional).
The ABC main channel was the top channel for the night at a five-city metro level with a 20.3% share and in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The ABC Network was also the top network for the night with a 28.6% share. Audiences peaked at 22.27 AEDT with three million metro and regional viewers. Sydney had the highest average audience and share with 503,000 viewers of the match, and 32.6% share in the timeslot.
In Queensland ABC's flagship channel showed viewers live coverage of the state's election. Indeed Queensland Votes election night coverage reached 2.1 million viewers last night across metro and regional markets from ABC and ABC News 24. Of these viewers, 959,000 were in the state.
Commenting on its night to remember, ABC's head of content Gaven Morris said: "Together the football and election results are a huge double win for the ABC, representing different but equally valuable contributions to Australians."
