Atresmedia has secured the rights to Red Arrow International's hit format Married at First Sight, the Spanish version of which, Casados A Primera Vista, will be produced by Big Bang Media and Boomerang.

Due to air on Antena 3 in Spain, the format - which was originally created by Snowman Productions for Denmark's public network DR3 and on which it reached shares of over 50% - has been sold to other territories including France, Germany, the US and Australia. In the US, the season finale of the show became the most watched broadcast on A+E Network's fyi and bio.'s network history, driving the channel to commission a second season.

"Married at First Sight is a really innovative format; we hope it surprises the Spanish audience, as it has done in all other territories," explained Carmen Ferreiro, director of programmes at Atresmedia.

In the format, six singles on the lookout for love put their hearts in the hands of a team of experts and marry a total stranger - meeting their partner for the first time at the altar. Six weeks of marriage later, the couples decide to go their separate ways or to take a shot at living together. The format is currently being pre-produced by Big Bang Media and Boomerang.

"The Married at First Sight format has been sold around the world and is adored wherever it goes. We are delighted that Spanish audiences will now get the chance to enjoy this hit show," said Axel Böhm, senior VP sales Europe at Red Arrow International.
